I was inspired to write a poem this morning. By posting it here I can no longer submit it to any lit magazines, but I like it so much I still wanted to share it. If you enjoy the poem, please consider sharing it with someone who enjoys poetry, too.
“To the young girl dancing alone in the street waiting for a parade to start”
I know
I see them too,
all the people
not dancing
with you.
Trust me
they want to.
Music makes our soul
jump and groove
with a joy only found
in dancing
like King David before
the Lord.
All these adults,
sitting in their foldable lawn
and rocking chairs,
have exchanged this joy
for comfort.
Have made it a habit
to ignore their hearts,
to cover their ears
with weary hands.
It is clear
you have not.
Do not!
Keep letting the music
of this life
move your feet,
move your heart.
Keep dancing
even when the rest of the world
has stopped.

Love it😃
